Castlevania: Belmont's Curse FAQ

October 15, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. The Steam listing displays October 14 for some regions — that is a timezone display difference, not a different launch. A Nintendo Switch version is confirmed but has no announced date yet.

Konami is publishing, with development led by Evil Empire — the studio behind Dead Cells' post-launch years and its Return to Castlevania expansion — alongside Motion Twin. The PlayStation Blog reports the game has been in development for four years.

No. Konami producer Tsutomu Taniguchi has confirmed the team deliberately steered away from permadeath and procedural levels. It is a classic-structure 2D action-exploration Castlevania: one large hand-crafted map, destructible secret walls, and areas that open up as Rose gains new abilities.

The new protagonist: Trevor Belmont's daughter. The game is set in 1499 Paris, 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. While Trevor investigates the clergy, Rose explores the ruined city — carrying a tarot deck and a curse that is creeping up her arm, both of which the developers say grow in significance as the game progresses.

The standard edition is $29.99 / €29.99. A Midnight Edition adds a Digital Sound & Art Gallery with 71 soundtrack pieces and over 100 artworks. Pre-ordering any edition unlocks an Alucard-style costume early.

Bosses you defeat merge into Rose's tarot deck as Arcana, unlocking spells, skills and special actions. PlayStation Blog's hands-on gives two examples: The Fallen's Holy Cross becomes a usable weapon skill, and Joan of Arc's Holy Light opens new traversal routes.

Seven weapon types, each with its own style and special moves. Confirmed examples: a balanced longsword that deals bonus damage when you attack straight out of a backdash, cestus gauntlets with fast short-range combos that ramp up damage as you land hits, and boss-derived weapons like Joan of Arc's Burnt Sword of Fierbois with a charge attack.

Neither has been announced. As of August 2026 it is a standard paid release on every confirmed platform. We will update this answer if a subscription-service deal is announced.
